Global Food Crisis

US President George W. Bush's remarks on the Indian middle class eating well and contributing to the global food crisis has snowballed into a controversy with India promptly hitting back at US calling the statement by President Bush as a ‘cruel joke’. Condemning that the policies of USA are responsible for foodgrain shortage, Indian Defence Minister AK Antony has accused the US for its large-scale conversion of agriculture land for commercial and bio-fuel cultivation purposes which had triggered acute food shortage at the global level.
