Raj Thackeray and Divisive Politics
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has been in the news ever since he raised anti-north Indian remarks in early February 2008, which had resulted in wide spread violence in Mumbai and other parts of the state. Though he was arrested and subsequently granted bail, he has been continuing his tirade against North Indians in Maharashtra and even dared the state government to arrest him for speaking against the migrants from north India settled in Mumbai and elsewhere in the state.
