I switch on the news and I see the security arrangements for the Olympic torch. Wow, can we have such good security for the general Delhi public who are bearing the brunt of almost daily crimes commited on them? Before that I heard in a news report about our Sports minister saying that actors etc should not run around with the torch and it is the sportsperson who should carry the torch.  

Okay. So we have endless debates over the torch security and who should run with the torch on the news channels. But how about focusing on India's performance in Olympics - how many medals is India going to win this time? How much money the citizens pay as tax has actually gone in promoting sports in the country? 

Last time India won only a silver medal. Okay, don't even think of comparing India with China but even countries like Ethiopia and Kazakhstan had a better ranking than India in the last Olympics. The last time India won a gold medal was in hockey in the 1980 Olympics.

Maybe we should start by sending the sports minister to these two countries to find out what these countries are able to do that we are not able to do.
