A recent research conducted records that a whooping 25% of the medicines sold in India are bogus medicines. one point is the ineffectiveness of the medicines to cure the ailment. the more serious one is the harmful effect of the same. Recently, in new delhi, a factory was found which manufactures duplicate pain killers by the drug authorities. but these are only the tip of the iceberg the drug regulators have to take more stringent controls. The mechanism will work only if different central and state government deparments (excise, sales tax, PCRO, Income Tax, Registration authorities etc) work in an integrated fashion sharing available information with each other to trap fraud in any form. This will definitely take off in the future at some time given the way technology is playing an important part in the government offices, but if the initiative were integrated from day one, results would be faster
