Income tax rates for 2008-2009
The income tax slab is Rs 1.5 lakh for all, 1.8 lakh for women and 2.25 lakh for individuals above 65 years. So the government thinks it is worth taxing anyone earning above these limits. So this is the legally established creamy limit by the Government of India. Any amount one makes more than these limits and you fork out the tax to the Government (there are deductions, etc.).
